In conjuction with Esplanade’s Voices – A Festival of Song in 2016, Intune Music Director, Aaron Matthew Lim (林伟强) conducted an introductory Estill Voice Training (EVT) Workshop on 10 December 2016, at Esplanade Recital Studio!
In this Estill Voice Training Introductory Workshop, participants were exposed to the training model of EVT and participated in vocal exercises that are useful for people who have to regularly project their voices in their daily lives!
Pronounced as “Es-Till” Voice Training, this vocal system that uses science to demystify voice structure. In the layman terms, through Estill Voice Training, you would know how to control your vocal muscles, individually, to achieve the sound, or rather singing quality, that you would wish to have.
This vocal system is founded by Josephine Antoinette Estill (25 April 1921 – 9 December 2010) in 1988 who had done the research on voice since 1979. Her research had led to many vocal exercises that can develop specific control over individual muscle groups within the vocal mechanism.
Like what Jo Estill said, ““Everyone has a beautiful voice…you just have to know how to use it!”, this vocal system is not limited to any style of singing and speech and language therapists has mentioned that the exercises in Estill Voice Training is valuable in their voice therapy for their patients!
