Intune Music Vocal Instructor Ms Tay Sia Yeun 郑夏韵 will be conducting a series of 10 lessons singing workshop from July to Sep 2019 for this senior citizen pop vocal course at Kaki Kampong Seniors Wellness Centre under Lakeside Family Services.
It is certainly never too old to learn something new!
Many people think that we should only take up vocal lessons or learn to play a new instrument when we are still young.
However, contrary to popular belief, research has shown that learning music has positively impacted senior citizens’ health and well-being! And this senior citizen pop vocal course will certainly do that well.
Maintaining a strong cognitive ability is a high priority for senior citizens, and learning a new instrument or singing skill will certainly help with memory retention, concentration, focus, and psychomotor coordination skills.
What are some of the other benefits for picking up music or singing after 50 years old?
- Maintain and nurture a sharper memory
- Reduce stress and lower the risk of depression
- Strengthens memory and reading skills
- Positive impact on preventing diseases such as Alzheimer’s, as well as fending off some forms of dementia
